Certificates, and what each one actually permits.
Sixteen psychedelic-assisted therapy trainings a California therapist can buy, from a $1,047 self-paced certificate to a €15,000 fifteen-month program in Berlin. Before cost or curriculum, one fact governs all of them: none changes your license or your scope of practice. They are credentials issued by schools and institutes, not regulators, and the Board of Behavioral Sciences neither recognizes nor requires any of them. In California the only psychedelic work you may lawfully do remains ketamine-assisted psychotherapy, plus preparation and integration around substances someone took elsewhere.
Three of the sixteen are attached to a real regulator, through Oregon's or Colorado's facilitator licenses — and those licenses only work inside those states, in a licensed service center. That is the whole of what a certificate can buy you legally. Everything else it buys is competence, supervision, a network and CE hours, which are real things worth paying for as long as you know that is what you are buying. What this section cannot settle: whether a given program is any good clinically. It can tell you what it costs, what it teaches, and exactly where it stops.
